How to check the UTRGV application status?

Once the students set up their UTRGV accounts, they can check the application status using the official website page.  The University has an official student system ASSIST, which allows students to follow up on the application. From the portal, students can check whether the application was successful or needs more items to complete.  To access the status check process, one needs to activate its UTRGV account by setting up a Vaquero email.  The email will assist the user in checking updates and other notification quickly.

Required items to activate your account

• The applicant needs UTRGV username
• The password to access the email account is provided during applyTexas application.

University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Activation process

1. Visit the official website https://myaccount.UTRGV.edu.
2. On the menu, click the option “First timer user? activate account”
3. Enter all mandatory details on the account for alternative email enter the email you provided in your ApplyTexas application select the “continue” button.
4. In the email account provided in ApplyTexas application check for an email from accounts@UTRGV.edu
5. Click the activation link send on the email indicated as “Go to UTRGV account.”
6. Check and read on the policies provided for the protection of resources then click on the “I agree” button.
7. Next, set up a security question and then click the continue tab.
8. Now create a password to complete the process.
9. Note the password my take five minutes before activation, allow the portal sometime to avoid locking the account.

How to set up your Vaquero email account

The UTRGV Vaquero email is used by the UTRGV to provide notifications about the application and other University details.

1. Go to the official UTRGV web link https://utrgv.edu/email
2. Use the windows live ID as your username then enter @vaqueros.utrgv.edu
3. Enter the password you used to login to myUTRGV portal.
4. For the first-time user, you should set up your UTRGV email account and access login details.
5. Enter the correct time zone; ensure your time zone goes is right to avoid delaying of the email.
6. After completing the steps now, you can access your inbox.

How to check UTRGV application status?

After activating your account applicant can now check the application status using the following steps.

1. Go to myUTRGV website portal, enter your username and new password.
2. On the menu, select the option ASSIST shown under the tab “my application section.” Immediately the ASSIST portal will open.
3. Next, select the option “Admission,” followed by the tab “student admission status.”
4. The system will provide information on the screen.
5. The portal might request for more details on the application or state if the form is complete.
